The SBDC Workshop Intern will assist the Small Business Development Center with writing weekly and monthly newsletters and supporting various marketing initiatives. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Newsletter Writing:
- Draft, edit, and distribute weekly and monthly newsletters.
- Collaborate with team members to gather relevant content.
- Ensure timely delivery and high-quality presentation of newsletters.
- Marketing & Communications Support:
- Assist in creating and implementing marketing campaigns.
- Update and maintain SBDC’s social media presence.
- Conduct market research and analysis as needed.
- Administrative Support:
- Perform general office duties, such as data entry and file management.
- Assist with event planning and coordination.
- Provide support for other SBDC projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current Troy University student enrolled at least half-time.
- High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability; self-starter mentality.
- Respect for details and ability to execute tasks accurately with minimal supervision.
- Articulate communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and organizational skills.
- Desire to learn and grow professionally.
- General computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
Please note: Student positions are FICA/Medicare exempt only if students are enrolled in classes in the semester work is performed. To qualify for the FICA/Medicare exemption, you must be enrolled on a half-time basis for the Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in writing, marketing, or related fields.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
- Basic understanding of office operations and administrative tasks.
