We are currently seeking a proactive and technically strong Team Leader – Workshop Operations to support workshop efficiency, mentor technicians, and ensure repairs are completed to the highest quality and manufacturer standards.
The Team Leader plays a vital role in coordinating daily workshop activities, supporting technicians, and acting as a technical and operational link between Technicians, Service Advisors, and Workshop Management. This role ensures smooth workflow, productivity, quality control, and compliance with safety and manufacturer procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the effective allocation of work orders to individual Technicians.
- Ensure Technicians accurately clock on and off for individual work operations.
- Monitor repair progress to ensure jobs are started and completed within agreed timelines.
- Liaise with Service Advisors to ensure all necessary job-related information is clearly communicated.
- Ensure Technicians remain productive and efficient during working hours.
- Review work orders for clarity and completeness, seeking clarification when required.
- Ensure alignment between work orders and customer, warranty, retail, and internal requirements.
- Remain consistently available to support, guide, mentor, and advise Technicians.
- Take ownership of repeat repair cases and ensure their prompt and effective resolution.
- Assess customer concerns through inspections, road tests, or other diagnostic methods when required.
- Ensure Technicians strictly follow workshop manuals and manufacturer procedures.
- Ensure correct and safe use of tools and equipment at all times.
- Translate customer concerns into clear and actionable technical instructions for Technicians.
- Liaise with manufacturers for technical support and reporting obligations.
- Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and protection of customer property.
- Assist Technicians in accurately recording all work performed and defects identified during service or repair.
- Conduct quality checks where applicable and sign off the QC section on work orders, or clearly identify areas requiring further assessment.
- Report work quality, tooling, and resource-related issues to the Workshop Manager in a timely and objective manner.
- Minimize lost time through an organized and disciplined approach and accurately record and report such instances.
- Support Service Advisors during diagnostics or vehicle handover when required.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned by senior management to support business objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified and experienced Automotive Technician with minimum 4 years of experience.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on workshop experience.
- Positive work attitude with the ability to work largely without supervision.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks without compromising quality.
- Fair-minded, professional, and objective in decision-making.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driving license.
