Yard Mechanic/ Technician (Oil/Gas)

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery using OEM manuals and schematics.
• Conduct mechanical repairs such as engine overhauls, transmission servicing, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, hydraulics troubleshooting, and alignment procedures.
• Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment longevity.
• Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, and forklift trucks safely during maintenance or repair tasks.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems including automotive diagnostics and electrical wiring to identify issues quickly and accurately.
• Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards including air brake systems and HVAC units.
• Assist with tire service, heavy lifting tasks, assembly of equipment parts, and general vehicle maintenance to support ongoing operational needs.

Requirements

• Proven mechanic experience with dealership or industrial equipment repair; familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT) OEM parts preferred.
• Strong knowledge of schematics for electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, HVAC systems, and suspension components.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; ability to use hand tools and power tools proficiently.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers safely and effectively.
• Mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, brake systems (including air brakes), alignment procedures, HVAC systems, and tire service.
• Experience working with farm machinery or industrial equipment is highly desirable.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly; comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
