Youth Development Professional

POSITION SUMMARY:
A Youth Development Professional supports the growth and well-being of young people by creating and implementing programs that promote positive development in various settings.

Role Overview:

A Youth Development Professional (YDP) is dedicated to fostering the growth and well-being of youth, typically aged 6-18. They work in diverse environments such as schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations, focusing on various aspects of youth development, including education, health, and social skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Create and implement programs that promote academic achievement, healthy lifestyles, and leadership skills among youth.
  • Mentorship: Build meaningful relationships with young people, providing guidance and support to help them navigate personal, social, and educational challenges.
  • Collaboration: Work with other professionals, such as educators and community leaders, to coordinate services and create comprehensive support systems for youth.
  • Monitoring Progress: Keep accurate records of youth participation and progress in programs, ensuring that their needs are met effectively.
  • Creating Safe Environments: Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere where young people feel valued and respected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional education in childcare is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with youth is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of youth development principles and a commitment to inspiring and empowering young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive, and responsible citizens.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and enhance high-quality youth programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to supervise youth in a safe, structured, and engaging environment.
  • Effective and professional communication skills when interacting with parents, staff, and community partners.
  • Experience or aptitude in tutoring and mentoring youth across a variety of academic subjects.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Must successfully pass a background.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
