Position Summary

The Youth Mentor provides structured guidance, support, and skill-building activities for youth and adolescents receiving services through Anderson Health Services.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy teaching, coaching, or mentoring young people in a supportive, community-based environment.

This is a new and growing position, so we are looking for energetic applicants who are creative, reliable, and passionate about making a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive, supportive, and professional mentoring relationships with youth
  • Provide coaching and instruction in areas such as:
    • Social skills
    • Emotional regulation
    • Daily living skills
    • Healthy habits and decision-making
  • Support youth in school, home, and community environments
  • Model appropriate behavior and reinforce positive choices
  • Document sessions and progress notes accurately and on time
  • Collaborate with supervisors, clinicians, and families to ensure consistent support
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all agency policies and state guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working with youth (school programs, camps, sports, mentoring, childcare, behavioral health, etc.)
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a coaching mindset
  • Ability to work independently and follow structured support plans

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or background in psychology, social work, education, or human services
  • Experience mentoring youth with emotional or behavioral challenges
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
