Youth Services Coordinator

Summary:

The Youth Services Coordinator will provide day-to-day case management and coordination of the Teen Court and Community Service & Restitution Program for at risk youth.

20 Hours (Part-Time)

Specific position duties and responsibilities:

Community Service & Restitution/ Teen Court Programs

  • Client/parent/guardian intake for clients who are referred or court ordered
  • All documentation associated with the programs including case files, database management, assessments, updates for referring Juvenile Court Counselor, and court reports
  • Establish and monitor community service worksite while maintaining compliance with program standards, local, state and federal laws and monitor restitution payments
  • Recruit and train program volunteers, interns, and worksites
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies, community, schools, etc.
  • Follow up with referrals and completions to monitor progress
  • Communication on a regular basis with parents/guardians, schools, local law enforcement and Juvenile Court Counselors
  • Tracking community service hours
  • Program presentations
  • Educational seminars
  • Transport clients in agency vehicles
  • Any additional duties as assigned by supervisor

General Agency Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required training
  • Participates in agency outreach and fundraising events
  • Demonstrates a willingness to assist in other agency programs as needed
  • Acts as custodian and demonstrates responsible and ethical use of agency property and facilities
  • Displays sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
  • Strive to embody the agency’s Code of Ethics while working toward the agency’s Mission
  • Learns and demonstrates Agency Wide Competencies including the areas of consumer and community relationships, continuous individual and agency-wide improvement, vision and purpose, respect and teamwork and positive leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Education or related area (Juvenile Justice, Social Services, Child Welfare, Health Services)
  • 2-3 years of experience working with at risk youth or Juvenile Justice involved.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of county, state, and federal policies, statutes and laws regarding juvenile justice, confidentiality, and child labor laws
  • Ability to work in diverse locations, indoor and outdoor worksites
  • Ability to supervise work of juveniles, volunteers, and interns
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word
  • Knowledge of child development and effective parenting techniques
  • Knowledge of community resources

Other Requirements:

  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Proof of current and valid car insurance
  • Acceptable background reports
  • Negative drug screen results

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
