Youth Wellness Specialist (QMHS)
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Job Type: Seasonal (full time during summer months - part time during fall, winter, and spring)
Compensation: $27–$32/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Reports To: Clinical Director

Position Overview
The Youth Wellness Specialist plays a central role in delivering engaging, structured, and therapeutic programming for youth enrolled in Acumen Therapeutics’ after-school and summer programs. This position blends therapeutic support with program facilitation, creating a dynamic environment where youth can build social, emotional, and behavioral skills.

This role is responsible for leading daily activities, facilitating therapeutic groups, supporting transitions throughout the program day, and coordinating case management services. The Youth Wellness Specialist works closely with licensed clinicians to ensure that each client receives well-rounded, individualized care.

Key Responsibilities
Facilitate therapeutic group sessions and skill-building activities for youth.
Plan and implement daily after-school and summer program activities.
Create engaging, age-appropriate programming that supports social and emotional development.
Provide case management services, including coordinating resources and supporting client needs.
Assist with intake and onboarding processes for new clients.
Administer outcome measurement tools (e.g., GAD-7, PHQ-9, and other evidence-based assessments).
Monitor client progress and communicate updates to the clinical team.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and case management records.
Collaborate with licensed clinicians to support treatment goals and service delivery.
Support implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
Participate in supervision, team meetings, trainings, and program planning sessions.

Assist with non-therapeutic programming responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting meal and snack times
  • Supervising and chaperoning field trips
  • Facilitating transitions between activities
  • Maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Advocate for clients and assist in connecting youth and families to community resources.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred
  • Active QMHS certification (Ohio) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth, adolescents, or behavioral health populations
  • Experience facilitating groups and/or structured youth programming preferred
  • Strong understanding of youth development and behavior management strategies
  • Ability to lead activities while maintaining a therapeutic and supportive environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Additional Requirement

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
  • Willingness to transport or accompany clients as needed for programming and activities
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain active and engaged in a youth program setting for extended periods
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 35 lbs, and up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • Ability to safely supervise youth in both indoor and outdoor environments
