The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in maintaining accurate medical records, verifying insurance, and supporting overall office operations to deliver seamless patient care.Responsibilities<ul><li>Greet patients professionally and manage front desk operations including check-in and check-out procedures.</li><li>Schedule appointments using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.</li><li>Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, to facilitate smooth billing processes.</li><li>Collect payments and perform medical collections while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.</li><li>Manage patient documentation review, ensuring all records are complete and compliant with health information management standards.</li><li>Assist with medical billing and coding tasks, including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and documentation review for accurate claim submission.</li><li>Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; respond to patient inquiries effectively.</li><li>Maintain organized medical records and files in compliance with office policies and legal requirements.</li><li>Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and updating patient information in EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Eaglesoft.</li><li>Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure smooth clinic operations.</li><li>Perform insurance verification procedures to confirm patient coverage prior to appointments.</li><li>Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient needs promptly and courteously in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred, especially in roles such as medical receptionist or front desk clerk.</li><li>Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms is highly desirable.</li><li>Knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), insurance verification, and health information management is essential.</li><li>Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing).</li><li>Excellent communication skills with a focus on phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse populations.</li><li>Understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards related to protected health information (PHI).</li><li>Experience working with dental terminology or dental office procedures is advantageous but not required.
