Do you like people and does helping them enjoy their stay in the Tampa Bay Area excite you? Sailport Waterfront Suites is seeking a front desk agent to help our guests make great memories whether they are travelling for business or leisure.

Position Purpose:

The Front Desk Agent is often the first person to interact with guests, so as the friendly face of the hotel it is imperative that exceptional customer service is provided. The front desk agent must have a relatable personality and a great desire to work with people. They are responsible for communicating in a welcoming and efficient manner, while ensuring that guests’ needs are properly addressed.

Essential Front Desk Agent Job Functions:

  • Use Provident Hotels & Resorts standards to provide a first-rate guest experience for all guests.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and cordial welcoming attitude to all guest, employees and staff member of the hotel.
  • Provide information to guests about hotel policies, services and amenities.
  • Knowledge of room rates, packages, discounts and walking procedures.
  • Selling and upselling rooms to “walk-in” customers.
  • Entering/changing reservation information on the computer system.
  • Following procedures concerning posting charges to guest accounts and acceptable forms of payment. (Credit card, cash, direct bill, etc.)
  • Operating hotel phone system. Use established greeting when answering the phone or meeting guests in person. Speak with attitude of warmth and friendliness. Find a way to say "yes" to their needs if you are reasonably able to do so. Look for ways to be helpful and courteous.
  • Sets and records wakeup calls.
  • Handle guest complaints and, in cases that require further assistance, direct information to the proper department head and note it in the daily shift pass down.
  • Maintain daily transportation logs.
  • Complete daily deposits and makes drops after each shift.
  • Complete bucket check and other shift reports on the daily checklist.
  • Practice good housekeeping of Front Desk, lobby area and immediate work area.
  • You will process all guest check-ins, and verify registration information with the guest.
  • Read daily pass-down log is aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
  • Communicate with housekeeping and maintenance departments to ensure prompt responses to guests’ needs.
  • You are a part of the property’s security team and are responsible to report any potential safety or security hazards to management immediately. Know all emergency procedures to follow and how to respond in the event of different types of emergencies.

Attendance

  • Front desk agents often work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Employees are expected to arrive on time and be in complete uniform for all schedule shifts.
  • Employees are not allowed to punch in earlier or leave later than their scheduled shift unless authorized by their immediate supervisor.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires standing for long periods of time.

  • Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent -minimum 1 year of experience or prior job related experience
  • Language skills: Bilingual a plus but not necessary-must be able to communicate fluently in English.
  • Mathematical Skills: The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages etc.
  • Reasoning Ability: Abilities to apply common sense and understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
