Duties

• Receive and prioritize incoming emergency calls using multi-line phone systems, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and conflict management.
• Gather essential information from callers through effective phone triage, assessing the nature of the emergency and determining appropriate response protocols.
• Dispatch police, fire, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), or other emergency responders promptly using GPS and GIS (Geographic Information System) tools to locate incidents accurately.
• Maintain clear, detailed records of all communications through data entry, transcription, and report writing to ensure accurate documentation of incidents.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions such as first aid or CPR guidance based on medical terminology and protocols to assist callers until help arrives.
• Monitor security systems and coordinate with law enforcement during ongoing incidents to support scene safety and incident management.
• Manage stressful situations with professionalism, employing negotiation skills and conflict resolution techniques to de-escalate callers when necessary.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GIS, GPS technology, and law enforcement procedures enhances dispatch accuracy.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, first aid procedures, and phone triage protocols is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure while demonstrating empathy and active listening.
• Proficient typing speed for efficient data entry and transcription tasks; attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to analyze complex situations quickly and make sound decisions in high-stakes environments.
• Experience with multi-line phone systems, security protocols, and conflict management techniques is advantageous.
