Job Summary:

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the daily movement of containers and drivers by communicating with operations and warehouse teams, managing dispatch data, and ensuring efficient transportation planning. This role is critical to maintaining the flow of goods through the port and warehouse system while ensuring compliance with all procedural and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and review the daily transportation plan from the Operations Managers and update the dispatch system accordingly.
  • Schedule the number of trucks needed daily based on operational activity.
  • Assign drivers to appropriate entries in the dispatch database and ensure dispatch tickets are issued and approved.
  • Verify completion status for all dispatched drivers and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Communicate with operations and warehouse teams regarding container and booking statuses.
  • Complete and distribute end-of-day reports, including activity logs and yard checks, to carriers and warehouse personnel.
  • Address and resolve dispatch PIN issues with Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) and/or shipping lines.
  • Report damaged container equipment promptly to appropriate shipping lines.
  • Report damaged chassis equipment promptly to Facilities & Maintenance.
  • Confirm driver levels and dispatch readiness for the following day.
  • Work with dedicated carriers On-Site Manager to push driver productivity.
  • Minimize bobtails, per diem, and chassis days.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support transportation operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with Navis and Georgia Ports Authority systems required.
  • Strong knowledge of port operations and transportation processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • PortPro or similar TMS experience.

Work Schedule:
  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
