AC Technician

Position Summary

The AC Technician will be responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing air conditioning systems in our facilities and ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. The technician will play a key role in maintaining a comfortable and productive environment for our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities & Authorities

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems and components
  
  

Troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.

• Perform regular preventative maintenance to ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently
• Replace defective parts and components such as compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, and filters
• Test electrical circuits and components for continuity using electrical test equipment
• Recharge air conditioning systems with refrigerants and ensure they comply with environmental regulations
• Keep detailed maintenance and repair records
• Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests outside of regular working hours (if on-call)
• To perform assembly of mechanical parts as per the drawings. To be able to disassemble and reassemble tools, machines, and equipment to perform required inspections, maintenance, repairs, overhauls and other similar activities
• To troubleshoot and repair pigs, control panels, wiring, tools, and machine components as required to support test runs and other related activities
• To achieve monthly production goals while maintaining an acceptable attendance hour to production ratio
• To be responsible for housekeeping of workspace and production and maintain clean and safe environment that minimizes risk to both employees and equipment
• To be responsible for activities of all shop employees, including vacation scheduling, shift scheduling and time and attendance reporting
• Assist in rigging, lifting, positioning, and securing heavy loads using equipment such as cranes, slings, chains, shackles, and hoists
  
  

Skills/Experience:

• Vocational training or diploma in HVAC or a related field
• Experience with smart HVAC systems or energy management technologies
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycle, HVAC systems, and controls
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Proficient in using hand and power tools related to HVAC work
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces or at heights
• Valid driver’s license
  
  

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Mobility: Must be able to walk and climb to perform duties, including maneuvering within a refinery or plant environment and accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
• Communication: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to communicate effectively
• Focus and Multitasking: Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
• Safety Equipment: Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection, if/where needed in manufacturing environments.
• Personal Mobility and Reflexes: Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations when necessary
