Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Handle all accounting operations and maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the accounting system.
- Record and manage client invoices and financial transactions within Ajar’s platform.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of payments, credits, and adjustments.
- Reconcile transaction data between internal systems, bank statements, merchant accounts, and client rec
- Conduct bank and merchant reconciliations, ensuring payment records match across systems.
- Submit timely and accurate financial reports, and assist in generating regular reports and summaries for c
- Ensure all financial data complies with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support the Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly budgets, as well as accurate
- Monitor departmental expenses and compare them against budget targets to control cost overflows.
- Maintain and monitor the petty cash system with proper documentation and approvals.
- Assist in external and internal audits, ensuring timely adjustments and proper documentation.
- Respond to internal or client inquiries, including during in-person visits, regarding transactions, invoices, a
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Operations, and directly with clients to resolve discrepancies or miss
- Suggest improvements in financial processes, systems, or policies to drive efficiency and growth.
- Ensure compliance with local and national government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Report any accounting issues directly to the responsible party or supervisor.
- Visit customers at their location to explain financial records and reports in person.
- Present and interpret client-specific financial data clearly and accurately.
- Provide on-the-spot answers to clients' financial questions in a professional and understandable manner.
- Educate clients on the financial tools and reports available via Ajar’s platform.
- Collect customer feedback during visits and relay relevant insights to the Finance and Customer Success.
- Ensure client meetings are well-documented and follow-up actions are tracked.
- Perform additional finance-related or client-facing responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance.
- Must have 2–3 years of experience, preferably in real estate.
- Experienced in handling large volumes of data.
- Very strong experience in reconciliation, accounting and bookkeeping.
- Experience with creating financial statements and general ledgers.
- Experience with Xero accounting software strongly preferred.
- Experience in large volume merchant reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
- Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems is a plus.
- Knowledge in startups and fintech financials.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Basic understanding of local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms.
- Customer-facing experience, preferably in a consultative or advisory role.
- Professional demeanor and confidence in face-to-face interactions.
