Accountant

We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take charge of the finance and accounting operations of our Dubai-based office. This role will serve as the backbone of the finance team, responsible for ensuring compliance with UAE tax regulations (including VAT), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and internal company policies.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in GAAP, GAAS, IFRS, VAT filings, and financial software systems particularly Odoo ERP. This is a senior leadership role that will manage the daily accounting functions and provide high-level financial insights and reporting for strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for consolidation, analysis, review, and reporting of financial data, as well as the coordination of financial statement preparation, variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and overall compliance with applicable standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Department Leadership
• Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
• Mentor and support junior accounting staff in best practices, compliance, VAT, cooperate taxes compliance and internal controls.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operational and administrative teams to ensure alignment between finance and business objectives.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Consolidate, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial data.
• Identify and investigate unusual or significant variances; ensure alignment with GAAP and internal company policies.
• Prepare and review internal and external financial statements for accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform periodic review of financial results using Odoo ERP.
• Compliance & Controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and internal control policies.
• Review and monitor revenue recognition and capitalized labor accounting to ensure conformity with accounting standards.
• Guide staff on technical accounting issues, policy applications, and documentation requirements.
• Financial Planning & Budgeting
• Develop and oversee annual budgeting processes, including departmental and company-wide forecasts.
• Prepare cost analyses and business forecasts to support management decision-making.
• Monitor actual vs. budgeted performance and provide variance analysis reports to executive leadership.
• General Ledger Management
• Lead and manage the monthly General Ledger closing process.
• Ensure proper journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
• Advisory Functions
• Apply advanced accounting principles and practices to maintain the integrity of financial transactions.
• Provide analytical and advisory support to internal stakeholders, including financial impact assessments and strategic guidance.
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during financial reviews and audits.

REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead accountant role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, VAT, Cooperate Tax, forecasting and internal control frameworks.
• Proficiency with Odoo ERP (or comparable enterprise-level accounting systems).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
• Experience in the logistics, freight forwarding, or cargo services industry.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
