Accountant – Part-time - Manufacturing Environment (AR & AP Focus)
We are looking for a part-time Accountant with AR/AP responsibilities responsible for managing the financial operations of a production environment, ensuring accurate tracking of customer receivables and vendor payables while supporting overall manufacturing cost control.
Core Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Generate, review, and distribute customer invoices in line with sales and operations data
- Apply cash receipts and reconcile AR subledgers to the general ledger
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances to improve collections
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer inquiries
- Partner with sales and operations to ensure accurate invoicing and timely billing.
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Process high-volume vendor invoices with accuracy and timeliness
- Perform three-way matches (purchase order, receipt, invoice) in a manufacturing context.
- Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (ACH, wire, checks)
- Maintain vendor records and resolve supplier discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
General Manufacturing Accounting Duties:
- Responsible for General Ledger
- Review and analyze contracts to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Prepare regular financial reports for manufacturing projects
- Analyze manufacturing variances and operational trends
- Maintain accurate inventory and cost records, including raw material in/out and adjustments
- Reconcile daily stock reports with system and security book records
- Support month-end and year-end closes, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support and prepare annual tax filings
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: 2–4+ years in AR/AP and general accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or inventory-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and production operations to ensure accurate billing, time payments and effective cost control.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems; strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills .
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and able to work under pressure
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts clearly and concisely.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing accounting principles, cost accounting, and inventory management
Typical Work Environment
- Schedule: Part-time (16 – 20) hours per week)
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
