Job description:

Job Title: Accountant CA/ACCA – Articles Completed

Location: (Onsite Lahore – Pakistan)

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM (U.S. Eastern time)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and responsible Accountant who has completed their Articles to support our financial operations. The ideal candidate must have strong accounting and audit fundamentals, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to prepare accurate financial statements on time. The position is fully home-based and requires working U.S. hours (NYC time).

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Control

· Own and oversee end-to-end accounting operations, including AR, AP, inventory, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.

· Review and approve daily accounting entries to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting standards.

· Establish and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

2. Accounts Receivable Management

· Lead AR strategy and execution, including credit controls, customer limit approvals, and dispute resolution.

· Monitor AR aging, proactively manage overdue balances, and drive collections in coordination with sales and management.

· Assess receivable risks and recommend bad debt provisions in line with US GAAP.

3. Accounts Payable Management

· Oversee AP aging, ensure timely and accurate vendor payments, and manage cash flow priorities.

· Review and approve payment runs, vendor reconciliations, and critical supplier settlements.

· Resolve complex vendor disputes and negotiate payment terms where required.

4. Inventory & Cost Management

· Direct weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations, ensuring quantity and value accuracy.

· Review slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged inventory and recommend provisions or write-offs.

5. Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Closing

· Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring timelines and accuracy.

· Review all accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions, and adjusting entries.

· Ensure no unreconciled balances are carried forward without proper justification.

6. Financial Reporting & Analysis

· Review and present monthly P&L, Balance Sheet to senior management.

· Provide variance analysis, trend insights, and root-cause explanations.

7. Compliance & US GAAP

· Ensure full compliance with US GAAP, including revenue recognition, matching principle, inventory accounting, and estimates.

· Maintain accounting policies and ensure consistent application across the organization.

· Stay updated on accounting standards and assess impact on financial reporting.

8. Audit & Risk Management

· Act as primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.

· Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, and ensure timely audit completion.

· Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation controls.

9. Leadership & Team Development

· Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including performance reviews and skill enhancement.

· Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

· Provide ongoing guidance on best practices, documentation standards, and process discipline.

10. Process Improvement & Systems

· Drive process improvements, automation, and ERP enhancements to increase efficiency and control.

· Standardize SOPs, closing checklists, and reporting frameworks.

· Partner with IT and operations to strengthen financial systems and data reliability.

Experience & Competency Profile:

· 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles

· Strong hands-on experience in AR, AP, inventory.

Management to streamline accounting processes (Mandatory Requirements):

  • Based in Pakistan and able to work on site at our Lahore Office.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualificationRequired
  • CA, ACCA, ICMA, or equivalent qualification (Articles Completed is mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience with closing and audit processes (month-end close, audit support, documentation)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, internal controls, and compliance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Highly professional and polished in communication and presentation
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Analytical mindset, able to connect financial insight with commercial decisions.
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently in a remote setup.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple deals simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating with or leading small sales teams is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, especially in pricing, contracts, and documentation.
  • Self-driven, disciplined, and focused on results.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in preparing management accounts.
  • Understanding of reconciliations across multiple financial sources.
  • Exposure to international clients (not required, but an advantage).
