Accounting Associate

About the Role

The Accounting Assistant provides varied general accounting and clerical support in the Accounting Department. This position part-time (24 hours per week, Tuesday – Thursday).
Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Research, track, and resolve vendor account issues
  • Input bills and expense reports into Bill.com and QuickBooks
  • Review accounts payable submissions for policy compliance
  • Code, process, and obtain appropriate expense approval
  • Monthly review of vendor account status
  • Update vendor account information as needed
  • Ensure proper documentation is obtained and filed
  • Collect and maintain W-9 files
  • Prepare 1099's for annual distribution
  • Maintain vendor files

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare weekly deposits for review by Accounting Manager
  • Review cash receipt batches; post to Church Management System
  • Post cash receipts detail in accounting software
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting discrepancies related to accounts receivable and contributors
  • Maintain deposit and customer files

General

  • Distribute bi-weekly paychecks
  • Prepare and distribute monthly ministry reports
  • Assist with balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Management of Accounting Office files (digital and hard copies)
  • Administrative task as required for maintaining the Accounting Office

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
The position requires an attention to detail, flexibility to work with Accounting department personnel, vendors and church members, ability to work independently and multi-task, prioritize work to meet deadlines, strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION

  • High School diploma
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Accounts payable experience (3 year minimum)
  • QuickBooks, Bill.com, Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook), Church Management Systems

Pay: $32,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
