Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting various accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with established standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). Duties
- Perform data entry and account reconciliation for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts using accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure compliance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
- Conduct detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare reports related to accounts payable/receivable, budget variances, and financial statements for internal review.
- Support tax preparation activities by organizing relevant documentation and ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws.
- Assist with internal audits and SOX compliance procedures to uphold the integrity of financial controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving financial concepts such as budgeting, credit analysis, or financial services.
Experience
- Proven experience working in an accounting role within a corporate or governmental setting.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, Ceridian, or similar platforms is essential.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and governmental accounting standards.
- Experience with payroll systems like ADP or Paychex is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation processes.
- Excellent math skills combined with a solid grasp of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger management.
