The Accounting Manager ensures all Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari financial records and statements are in line with laws, regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). These records and statements may include the balance sheet, the profit and loss statement, the cash-flow statement, and tax returns. This position documents all business financial transactions for Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. This position compiles the information needed to prepare entries for company accounts, such as the general ledger. The Accounting Manager must resolve any discrepancies or irregularities they find in records, statements, or documented transactions.

Work Requirements

  • Record journal entries for various general accounting activities such as bank activity and daily revenue from point-of-sale systems
  • Manage accounts payable process including recording invoices and making timely payments
  • Reconcile bank accounts, fixed asset accounts, accounts payable balance, and other assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Ensure fixed assets are properly recorded in the general ledger, fixed asset software, and tax systems in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain a fixed asset manual to ensure compliance and accurate tracking of all assets
  • Calculate, record, and reconcile all revenue share programs in accordance with contracts
  • Manage sales, use, property, and innkeeper’s taxes including reconciling assessments, accruing balance, and preparing payments
  • Complete monthly journal entries to ensure financial accuracy of accounting records
  • Review income statement for accuracy, GAAP compliance, and budget discrepancies
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Stay current on changes or updates in the accounting industry through onsite and offsite seminars
  • Actively participate & prepare schedules for internal and external audits
  • Serve as a backup for other accounting personnel as needed
  • Maintain accounting controls and documentation
  • Maintain financial confidentiality
  • Develop and maintain standard work for core job functions
  • Identify and implement process improvements in all areas of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline (or relevant work experience)
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • 2 - 3 Years of experience in an Accounting or Finance related field
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to work cross functionally with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work full-time
  • Acceptable pre-employment drug screen and background check
