JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, overseeing core processes, financial reporting, and a small team of accounting professionals. This role is both hands-on and people focused, requiring strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative, team-centric approach. The Accounting Manager partners closely with leadership, HR, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financials, operational efficiency, and scalability during growth and acquisition activity.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support the monthly close process, including preparation and review of financial statements, general ledger activity, and customized management reports
  • Perform variance analysis and provide clear insights to leadership
  • Oversee and review balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Supervise and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Oversee selected collections activities, partnering with ownership on complex collection matters
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff (1–2 direct reports), fostering accountability and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Human Resources on payroll processing and benefit-related reporting
  • Assist with tax preparation activities as needed, in collaboration with internal and external tax resources
  • Support annual audit activities, including preparation of schedules and auditor coordination
  • Contribute to acquisition, integration, and business transformation initiatives, including systems and process integration

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
  • Proven experience performing detailed financial and numerical analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior people management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Detail oriented with a continuous improvement mindset

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of experience in full cycle accounting or full charge bookkeeping. Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the role may be considered
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • Strong command of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Sage Intacct required
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP implementations and system enhancements
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills with strong financial reporting capabilities
  • Experience supporting business integrations and acquisitions required

LOCATION:

This position is 100% remote and supports east to west coast time zones.
