Accounts Payable Program Manager

General Summary:

The Account Payable Program Manager is responsible for providing financial & administrative support in the Finance Department and interacts with staff from the AMTA, the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCB).

This position will, as part of a team, be collectively responsible for the following items: accounts payable, bank deposits and cash receipts for all entities.

In addition to the traditional accounting tasks, this role will interact heavily with our Association’s volunteers, as well as internal staff. Candidates for this role will need to have the ability to problem-solve, and communicate accounting concepts, in layman’s terms.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and ensures that proper approvals and account codes are on all vendor invoices, check requests and expense reports prior to entering them into accounting system;
  • Enters approved invoices, check requests and expense reimbursements on a timely basis;
  • Prepares bank deposits and researches any discrepancies.
  • Posts the accounting entries for all cash receipts, and preparation of bank deposits;
  • Ensures the revenues and expenses generated by operations are properly recorded under the accrual method of accounting and consistent with generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Assist in training AMTA Chapter volunteers in collaboration with our Chapter Relations department. Training sessions can occur in a variety of ways such as remote one-on-one, in-person group presentations, and virtual live and pre-recorded formats.
  • Receive MasterCard expense reports to reconcile expenditures;
  • Field phone calls from Chapter Volunteers and questions from internal staff, regarding payments and other accounting questions;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and the ability to apply them;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial records;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Very effective organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Strong time management and stress management skills;
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks, while working independently;
  • Ability to analyze the workload and determine priorities while completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner;
  • Strong deductive reasoning skills;

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred;
  • Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree, but with 5+ years of Payables experience will be considered.
  • Four years experience in an accounting position required;
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with a non-profit organization, and volunteers, a plus.

Comments:

This position will be an integral component of the Finance Department, the ability to be aware of all aspects of the department as well as respond to requests from other departments and external sources such as chapter volunteers are essential to this position’s success.

Pay: $64,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
