Job Summary:

The Administrator will lead and direct all care, services, and programming, ensuring exceptional quality and services while maintaining compliance with all Wisconsin DHS Chapter 83 regulations. The Administrator ensures the health, well-being, and safety of the clients; maintains regular communication with members, guardian/legal representatives, family, and other outside agency representatives; manages staffing in order to provide the highest quality care and support to clients; also oversees and trains direct care manager for mentorship and development in their roles.


Most time is spent interacting with residents, families and staff, or in meetings, and requires excellent skills in time and stress management, a calm, patient, and professional demeanor, and deep understanding of both the clinical and business aspects of running a CBRF facility.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that newly hired staff are adequately trained by qualified trainers. New staff must be oriented to resident rights, emergency evacuation procedures and client's critical needs and care plan, facility environment standards including compliance with medication protocols.
  • Maintain open communication with members, family, service coordinators, and/or other client representatives. Advocates for client’s optimal health, well-being, and overall quality of life.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility and keep the organization on track for its long-term goals and mission: client notes documentation, medication audits, personal and incidental funds disbursement and audits, bodily inspections, maintenance of client and staff files, and individualized care plans.
  • Attend trainings as mandated by the organization to enhance knowledge of a long-term care facility
  • Evaluates management re: client’s safety, well-being and physical appearance. Provides prompt and professional feedback in a timely manner. Administer will provide consistent feedback on findings
  • Maintain safety compliance and provide training to prevent staff and client injury
  • Promote and protect the rights of each resident. Fully investigate any suspected violations of misconduct immediately
  • Coordinate and provide leadership to ensure that staffing work together effectively
  • Ensure the facility operates in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ensure that all residents individual care plans are completed and up to date and acknowledgment is signed by all required parties
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure residents’ individual care plans are being followed
  • Responsible for resident care such as scheduling medical appointments, following up on recommendations by the doctor and ensuring the well-being and the overall medical condition of the residents
  • Develop and revise policies and procedures for quality care and regulatory compliance, ensure a safe working environment, and meet regulatory requirements for staff and residents.
  • Act as first responder in the field to emergencies and report special incidents according to applicable laws and regulations
  • Responsible for oversight of census and admissions in accordance with regulatory requirements, including oversight of resident admissions, transfers, and discharges, while ensuring eligibility criteria and pre-admission assessments are met.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration or nursing
  • Five (5) years' experience in long term care with a background in management or supervision, CBRF experience preferred
  • Must have successfully completed an assisted living administrator’s training course, with working knowledge of federal, state, and local standards and regulations, especially state and federal CBRF regulations.
