Adult Engagement Assistant Manager

Pay

Hiring Range: $1,931.20 - $2,414.80 Biweekly

Pay Range: $1,931.20 - $2,896.80 Biweekly

Hours

Normal workweek is 40 hours.
Frequent evenings and weekends for community event involvement.

The Adult Engagement Assistant Manager will implement engaging and educational library events and cultivate community partnerships and outreach opportunities. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager of Community Services, and with an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Adult Engagement Assistant Manager will:

Develop system-wide outreach and program strategies for adults.
Assess the needs of key audiences, partners, and neighborhoods for programming and outreach with special emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
Create programming and outreach standards and measures of success for adults. Provide system wide training to staff on successful programming and outreach measures.
Manage team staff. Hire, train, schedule, enforce library policies, resolve difficulties, recommend changes to employment status, establish performance standards and evaluate employee performance of department staff and volunteers.
Develop and implement special projects with established and new community partners. Foster positive relationships in the community by collaborating with local organizations and maintaining connections with partners.
Plan, organize, and provide system-wide programming for adults. Prepare presentations and program materials. Present systemwide programming or attend programs for staff support.
Approve scheduled outreach and programming events in internal scheduling software.
Stay informed about events and outreach opportunities in the community. Identify and schedule opportunities for library outreach and programming in the community.
Attend community outreach events and meetings to promote the library.
Track and analyze programming and outreach attendance to report to the department manager.
Lead and/or participate in staff committees. Collaborate with public service staff to plan and develop programming and outreach.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university.
1-3 years experience working with the relevant age group and/or experience in public libraries.
A valid State of Indiana Librarian Certification - Level 5, or obtained within three years of hire as a condition of employment.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
Public service orientation and commitment to excellent and genuine customer service.
Demonstration of character and integrity in all situations while upholding SJCPL’s ethical standards.
Experience working with and proficiency with computers, including Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Windows and Mac OS and communication technologies.
Knowledge of library materials and services appropriate for a variety of patrons in relevant age group.
Physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift, and move up to 50lbs. and to stand for long periods of time.
Reliable transportation.
Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable with public speaking.
Spanish language skills preferred.
