Job Summary:

The Architect (ADCD Approved) is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and coordinating architectural designs and drawings in compliance with Abu Dhabi Civil Defense (ADCD) regulations. The role involves ensuring that all fire and life safety requirements are integrated into project designs, securing necessary approvals from ADCD, and coordinating with consultants, contractors, and authorities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review architectural drawings and fire & life safety layouts as per ADCD codes and UAE Fire & Life Safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Civil Defense department to obtain design and final approvals for building projects.
  • Ensure that fire safety provisions (e.g., fire exits, firefighting systems, fire compartmentation, emergency lighting) are properly incorporated into architectural designs.
  • Conduct design reviews and site inspections to verify compliance with approved ADCD drawings and standards.
  • Liaise with MEP, structural, and safety teams to ensure coordinated and code-compliant designs.
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for ADCD online portals (e-Services), including application forms, drawings, and technical reports.
  • Stay up to date with local authority regulations (ADM, ADCD, DMT, etc.) and apply updates to ongoing projects.
  • Support consultants and contractors during the approval process and respond to ADCD review comments.
  • Provide guidance and training to design teams on compliance with ADCD fire and life safety requirements.
  • Maintain a database of ADCD-approved materials, drawings, and correspondence for project records.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in architectural design, with at least 3 years in the UAE handling ADCD submissions and approvals.
  • Certification: Must be Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Approved Architect (Valid ADCD Approval Certificate required).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other architectural design software.
  • Familiar with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice and ADCD approval procedures.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, authority regulations (ADM, DCD, DMT, etc.).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent coordination, communication, and documentation abilities. Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership in the Society of Engineers – UAE.
  • Experience with high-rise, mixed-use, or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and international fire safety standards.
