The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding market penetration, and managing distributor and field sales operations within the Islamabad region. The role requires strong leadership, market understanding, and the ability to achieve sales targets while maintaining strong trade relationships and ensuring efficient execution in the field.
Key Responsibilities Sales & Market Development
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned territory.
- Drive volume growth and revenue generation through effective market strategies.
- Increase numeric distribution and market penetration across retail and wholesale channels.
- Identify new business opportunities, untapped markets, and growth potential within the territory.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and market trends to maintain competitive advantage.
Distributor Management
- Appoint, develop, and manage distributors to ensure effective market coverage.
- Monitor distributor ROI, financial health, and operational performance.
- Ensure healthy stock levels and product availability across all channels.
- Oversee timely order placement, execution, and delivery.
- Manage claims, payments, and reconciliation processes with distributors.
Team Management & Field Execution
- Set sales targets and KPIs for the field sales team.
- Monitor team performance and productivity through regular reviews.
- Conduct joint field visits with sales representatives to provide coaching and market guidance.
- Ensure discipline, motivation, and effective execution of sales plans.
Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Analyze sales data, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective actions.
- Forecast demand and plan sales activities accordingly.
- Maintain accurate market intelligence including trade dynamics and competitor insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience
- 3–7 years of sales experience in FMCG industry.
- Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or team management experience.
- Strong understanding of the Islamabad market, retail channels, and trade networks.
