JOB ROLE/TASKS: System Administrator
1. Troubleshooting
Analyse job logs and system messages.
Use system tools (**WRKACTJOB**, **WRKSTN**) for performance issues.
Resolve hardware errors and disk/memory/CPU problems.
2. PTF Application
Apply PTFs to fix bugs and improve performance.
Use commands like **WRKPTFGRP**, **GO PTF** to check and apply PTFs.
Solve PTF conflicts or application issues.
3. System Updates & Maintenance
Apply **Cumulative PTFs** to keep the system up-to-date.
Schedule PTF updates during off-peak hours.
4. Job Management
Troubleshoot failed jobs using **WRKJOB**.
Clear job queues and restart jobs as needed.
5. Database & File Issues
Fix issues with **DB2 for IBM i** and corrupted files.
Use **SQL queries** to resolve database problems.
6. User Support
Communicate with users to understand and fix issues.
Document problems and solutions clearly.
