Assistant Design Manager (DFMA/Technical)

The project:

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment, and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Supervises daily activities of business design management plan and its effectiveness in meeting business, statutory, legal, and contractual requirements on project(s).

You’ll be responsible for:

• Support the design manager in coordinating multidisciplinary design packages, ensuring DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principles are applied from concept through IFC.

• Review drawings, specifications, and technical submissions for accuracy, buildability, manufacturability, and alignment with project standards.

• Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, specialist suppliers, and off-site manufacturers to optimise design for production and assembly.

• Manage interface resolution between factory-produced elements and on-site installation requirements, identifying risks and proposing technical solutions.

• Track design progress through logs, reports, workshops, and reviews, ensuring deliverables meet programme, quality and compliance requirements.

• Support value engineering activities, design assurance, sequencing considerations, tolerances, lifting/handling inputs, and assembly methodology.

• Assist with RFIs, design markups, technical clarifications, and coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and internal design teams.

You’ll need to have:

• Degree in design or related discipline.

• Knowledge of design and construction systems.

• Familiarity with safety legislation and contracts.

• Basic reporting and prefabrication understanding.

• Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and relevant work experience working on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.
