Assistant Director, College Human Resources

The BYU Marriott School of Business is seeking a n Assistant Director of College Human Resources who will serve as the college’s HR Business Partner, working closely with Deans, Department Chairs, and administrative leaders to support strategic workforce initiatives. This role plays a key part in aligning people strategies with the college’s mission and growth, while providing expert guidance on organizational design, talent management, and employee relations.

As a critical member of the Marriott Leadership Council, this position leads HR strategy and operations across a complex and growing organization, ensuring a high-quality employee experience for faculty, staff, and student employees.

What you’ll do in this position :

  • Serve as the trusted HR advisor to college leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and employee-related strategy.

  • Lead and oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, and offboarding.

  • Guide job design, restructuring, and position leveling across departments.

  • Partner with BYU central HR on compensation, talent acquisition, and policy alignment.

  • Lead employee engagement, recognition, and professional development initiatives.

  • Train and coach managers and HR Operations Specialists on HR practices, leadership, and performance management.

  • Oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution and complex workplace matters.

  • Ensure compliance with university policies, employment law, and HR best practices.

  • Analyze HR data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making and workforce planning.

  • Serve as the college’s Workday HR expert and support reporting and data integrity.

  • Drive HR strategy, innovation, and key initiatives that support the college’s growth and mission.

What qualifies you for this role :

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU

  • Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of progressive human resources experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Leadership, communication, and change management

  • HR analytics and reporting

  • Strategic HR and workforce planning

  • Employee relations and coaching

Preferred

  • Master’s degree

  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP)

  • Higher education experience

  • Workday HRIS expertise
