Assistant Director of Convention & Events

People
  • Support the Director in managing the Convention & Events team, ensuring a positive and productive work environment
  • Supervise daily operations, assign tasks, and ensure adequate staffing levels
  • Coach and develop team members through training, feedback, and performance reviews
  • Ensure team compliance with IHG standards, procedures, and service delivery
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless event execution
Financial
  • Assist in preparing forecasts, budgets, and financial plans
  • Monitor sales performance, revenue, and productivity metrics
  • Support in negotiating rates within established booking guidelines
  • Identify opportunities to maximize revenue and control costs
Guest Experience
  • Act as a key contact for clients, ensuring a smooth and memorable event journey
  • Support in building and maintaining strong relationships with planners and clients
  • Assist with pre-event planning, ensuring all details (setup, flow, menu, logistics) are optimized
  • Coordinate event details including room setup, staging, and timing
  • Participate in pre-event and post-event meetings to ensure service excellence
  • Support daily client interaction during events, ensuring satisfaction and handling any issues promptly
  • Assist in analysing guest feedback and satisfaction surveys to improve service
Responsible Business
  • Support initiatives that enhance the hotel’s reputation and brand presence locally
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices during events
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs
