Harvard Business School Executive Education brings together senior executives from the world’s most influential organizations, preparing them to reach the next level for their organizations and for themselves. Working closely with HBS’s world-class faculty, we design and deliver programs for individuals and for organizations, welcoming over 12,000 participants annually from over 130 countries. Programs range from a few days to multiple weeks. Most programs are delivered on the HBS campus, where participants live, learn, and dine together in dedicated Executive Education residences and facilities. Our programming includes in-person, virtual, and blended (combining both in-person and virtual learning) options. The Executive Education department consists of open enrollment, global, and custom program portfolio management; guest services; marketing; corporate sales; program operations; technology services; human resources; enrollment and admissions; and finance.

Job Description

Job Summary
Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Associate Director, Program Delivery Operations, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and driving training initiatives across the Program Delivery team, with a focus on the Program Coordinator role.

Position Description

• Hires, directs, and manages a team of Program Specialists in support of providing onboarding and training across the delivery team.
• Conceives, develops, and implements new training ideas and proposals to increase efficiencies and build skills among delivery staff.
• Manages the Learning Lab, including creating a staffing plan for Program Specialists, engaging with new staff in their 90-day orientation period, and scheduling touchpoints with Program Managers to monitor progress and adjust training plans, as needed for Program Coordinators.
• Develops metrics and associated reports, to monitor and improve ongoing training initiatives.
• Plans and hosts biweekly best practices meetings, incorporating information on important departmental initiatives, as well as liaising with groups across Executive Education and HBS to promote organizational awareness within our team.
• Engages with Program Managers and Program Coordinators to collect feedback to identify gaps in training program. Taking this data, works alongside an Associate Director to incorporate future training plans alongside professional development offerings.
• Serves as an escalation point for time-sensitive process issues across the delivery team.
• Demonstrates the ability to; guide and deliver programs and other projects, support and facilitate department wide initiatives and business goals, motivate, encourage, and inspire staff, embrace and support change and deliver results, empower others.
• Partners with Executive Education (EE) IT to develop and roll-out eLearning courses to complement synchronous trainings.
• Attends weekly meetings, including with the Logistics Committee and Operations Meeting
• Establishes touchpoints with each of the Associate Directors, Program Delivery, to keep abreast of new initiatives within each of their portfolios, and meet monthly as group to provide status updates on training needs.
• Manages a small number of programs annually, maintaining a strong understanding of all processes and tasks associated with planning and delivering programs.
• Build trust and collaboration by being present on-site and engaging directly with colleagues and various constituents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

• In addition to the qualifications above, 2 more years of related experience in higher education, project management, or staff training is preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience leading, and developing staff training preferred
• Requires a team player to work in partnership with a large constituent of colleagues across the department and school
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to multitask and prioritize team initiatives based on ongoing and often changing workload
• Ability to create, implement, and drive new initiatives and processes
• Ability and eagerness to foster connection and promote employee engagement

Additional Information

• 
  Standard Hours: 40 hours/week, exempt role
• Compensation range: $90,000 - $98,000 annually, commensurate with experience

• Other Information:
  • This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of onsite and remote work at our Boston, MA based campus. Please note that for the first 90 days of employment, you will be expected to be onsite 5 days/week. This role is required to be onsite for the entire duration of assigned programs when in-session. When not in session, Executive Education expects Program Delivery staff to be onsite a minimum of 2 days per week and departments to provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
