Let's give you a quick sneak peek into the life of an Assistant Manager Imports

Responsible for managing the end-to-end import cycle — from order placement and LC establishment to customs clearance. The role involves freight forwarding coordination, CNF/FOB cost analysis, and ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery. Requires strong supplier management, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to optimizing import operations.


Things you will be doing as an Assistant Manager Imports

  • Ensure timely planning and placement of import orders to make sure that imported ingredients are ordered and received as per production requirements while maintaining optimum inventory levels
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers, banks, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and clearing agents to achieve optimum cost efficiency, service quality, and timely delivery performance.
  • Raise import inquiries to foreign suppliers and negotiate to secure the most competitive prices
  • Coordinate with suppliers, banks, freight forwarders and clearing agents for import order documentation, shipment arrangements, and related queries
  • Ensure accurate establishment of Letters of Credit (LCs), and registration of Purchase Contracts with the bank
  • Analyze and recommend the most feasible mode of shipment (FOB or CFR)
  • Ensure timely customs clearance of all imports
  • Follow up and finalize clearing agent, insurance, and shipping company bills for timely submission to the finance department
  • Ensure EFS (Export Facilitation Scheme) are availed on all applicable shipments and compliance is maintained in export GDs (Goods Declarations)
  • Maintain accurate data and generate reports related to imports and payments
  • Assist Line Manager in preparation of Monthly Price Report


What are we looking for in you?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Supply Chain
  • 4-6 years of core experience in import operations including documentation, banking & customs clearance
  • Knowledge of SAP S4 HANA (MM), import process & ingredients
  • Negotiation & Decision-Making Skills
  • Analytical & Communication skills
