Assistant Manager Procurement

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager Procurement (Raw Material) is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials at optimal cost, quality, and delivery timelines. The role ensures uninterrupted supply of materials to support production, maintains supplier relationships, and drives cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for raw materials.

Obtain and analyze quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts.

Ensure procurement aligns with production schedules and inventory targets.

Inventory & Material Planning

Monitor raw material inventory levels and forecast requirements in coordination with Production & Planning teams.

Implement just-in-time (JIT) or other inventory optimization methods to reduce holding costs.

Supplier Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.

Conduct periodic supplier evaluations on quality, delivery, and service performance.

Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery delays, or disputes.

Cost & Budget Control

Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality.

Track procurement spend and support the preparation of the annual procurement budget.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and reports for audits.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Production to meet material specifications and timelines.

Support new product development by sourcing new raw materials as required.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Chemical/Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of relevant procurement experience, preferably in FMCG, chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing sectors.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.

Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and MS Office Suite.

Familiarity with import procedures and customs regulations is a plus.

Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs80,000.00 - Rs120,000.00 per month
