Job Description

The Logistics & Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient management and coordination of logistics and production activities. This role involves managing the transportation and storage of materials, ensuring production schedules are met, and maintaining the overall supply chain flow. The individual will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure that all operational processes are streamlined and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities:

Logistics Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and optimize the transportation and storage of materials, products, and goods.
  • Ensure timely delivery of raw materials to production and finished goods to customers or storage facilities.
  • Manage inventory control and stock levels to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
  • Monitor and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental laws.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce logistics costs while maintaining service levels.
  • Coordinate and track deliveries, resolve shipping issues, and manage customer communications regarding shipment status.

Production Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring production targets and schedules are met.
  • Coordinate production scheduling and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure that products are manufactured according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and address production bottlenecks, quality issues, or other operational inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., quality control, engineering, procurement) to improve production processes and resolve issues.
  • Manage production staff and ensure proper training and development to maintain high productivity and safety standards.
  • Review production reports and make adjustments to improve output and reduce downtime.

Supply Chain Coordination:

  • Liaise with procurement and suppliers to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components for production.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand demand forecasts and adjust production and logistics plans accordingly.
  • Monitor and manage lead times to ensure materials and products are available when needed without overstocking.
  • Ensure efficient management of warehouse space for incoming materials and finished goods storage.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards in both logistics and production processes.
  • Identify and resolve any quality-related issues in the production line.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to logistics and production activities.
  • Ensure product traceability and documentation requirements are met.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on logistics and production activities, including performance metrics, cost analysis, and operational challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, transportation schedules, production outputs, and quality assurance data.
  • Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
