Assistant Manager Vehicles Maintenance

Job Purpose:

The Vehicles Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring all company vehicles are properly maintained, safe, and in reliable operating condition. This role oversees preventive maintenance schedules, coordinates repairs, tracks vehicle performance, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Accountabilities / Deliverables:

  • Plan and oversee routine and preventive maintenance for all fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate repairs with internal technicians or external workshops.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, fuel usage, mileage, and maintenance history.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts replacements, and maintenance costs.
  • Inspect vehicles regularly to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, licensing, registration, and inspection requirements.
  • Manage breakdowns and ensure timely roadside recovery.
  • Track spare parts inventory and ensure availability when needed.
  • Review workshop invoices and verify completed work.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and recommend improvements to reduce downtime.
  • Support logistics and operational teams by ensuring the fleet is ready for daily activities.

Job Specification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 to 4 Years of Experience in relevant field.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of light and/or heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and understand repair procedures.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
