JOB PURPOSE

The Department of Applied Biology seeks a qualified faculty member at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Industrial & Food Biotechnology to join the team in the academic year commencing September 2026.

Successful candidates are expected to contribute effectively to teaching different biotechnology courses such as Biotechnology and Food Analysis, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioreactors, Fermentation Technology, Microbial Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, as well as Basic Biotechnology, and to contribute effectively to the fourth-year graduation projects.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The application should contain an updated CV which includes degrees obtained, teaching experience, list of publications and names of three referees.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
  • Contribute effectively to teaching of diverse theoretical and practical biology/biotechnology courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels including/tissue culture/industrial biotechnology/food biotechnology/pharmaceutical biotechnology courses.
  • Conduct high quality research work in the biotechnology area and actively contribute to the establishment and development of research groups within the discipline.
  • Secure research funding from both internal and external sources to support scholarly activities and innovation.
  • Provide academic and professional advising and mentorship to students, supporting their educational and professional development.
  • Participate in the development, design, review, and enhancement of academic programs and curricula at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment tools and processes to evaluate student learning outcomes.
  • Support community outreach initiatives, student extracurricular activities.


REQUIRED SKILLS

  • The candidate should have a Ph.D. from a university recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in the UAE in Biotechnology (Industrial/Food/Pharmaceutical).
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level with a focus on hands-on learning and modern teaching strategies.
  • The candidate should have a strong research publication record in the fields of fermentation, industrial biotechnology, and food analysis in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Postdoctoral research experience is desirable.
