Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil (Overhead Lines)

Location: UAE


We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil – OHL) to support the Resident Engineer in overseeing civil works related to overhead line (OHL) projects. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with design specifications, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and upholding the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing civil works for OHL projects.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure works comply with approved drawings, layouts, and method statements.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contractors to resolve technical and construction issues.
  • Review and provide input on contractor submissions, shop drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Attend Site Technical Coordination Meetings to address project progress, technical challenges, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor and inspect construction activities to verify compliance with contract documents, engineering standards, and accepted practices.
  • Witness site testing and inspections to ensure quality assurance.
  • Support the Resident Engineer during final inspections, certification of completion, and project handover.
  • Ensure safety procedures and site measures are strictly implemented and maintained.


Requirements


  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BE).
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in civil engineering projects, with significant experience in the UAE.
  • Preferred Background: Experience working with authorities such as TRANSCO, ADDC, DEWA, or similar utility organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction supervision, quality assurance, and health & safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
