Job Summary:

The Assistant Vice President, Ambulatory Operations, Wellstar Columbia County Medical Center (WCCMC) is responsible for executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Wellstar's ambulatory enterprise at WCCMC. The positions reports to the Chief Operating Officer, WCCMC.

The AVP oversees and manages day-to-day operations and oversight for 10+ clinics and coordinates closely with three hospital outpatient departments within the Medical Office Building at the WCCMC. This leader is accountable for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of all ambulatory practices and serves as the senior operational liaison between clinical leadership, service lines, Wellstar Medical Group operations, and enterprise Administration. In collaboration with the aforementioned groups, this leader will be responsible for strategic planning for future ambulatory growth in Columbia County and will provide leadership and oversight of future ambulatory sites in the county.

In addition, the AVP collaborates with Wellstar MCG Health leadership and Augusta University academic health system department administrators and chairs, as well as community-based clinic models, ensuring effective governance, integration, standardization, and implementation of best practices across diverse ambulatory environments. The AVP ensures that high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care is consistently delivered across all sites while optimizing access, efficiency, technology integration, and workforce engagement. As a key member of the Wellstar leadership team, this leader partners with physician chairs, service line executives, and system leadership to advance Wellstar's mission, accelerate growth, and strengthen operational alignment across the ambulatory continuum.


Required Minimum Education:

  • Masters required.

Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare operations, specifically in ambulatory outpatient clinic setting is required.
  • Demonstrated success in operations, performance improvement, strategic and financial planning is required.
  • Proven record of improving patient access, satisfaction, and quality outcomes is required.
  • Experience in a matrix operating structure is required.
  • Experience with Epic or equivalent EMR is strongly preferred.

  • Advanced leadership, communication, and strategic planning abilities.
  • Expertise in financial management, budgeting, and funds flow modeling.
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex teams across diverse locations.
