Job Overview:
A boutique defense firm specializing in workers’ compensation and employment litigation is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join the team. The firm represents a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, uninsured employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators, and is committed to achieving favorable results through efficient, strategic, and cost-effective litigation.

Position Summary:
The Associate Attorney will assist in defending workers’ compensation and employment matters from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior attorneys on litigation strategy, manage cases, and interact directly with clients and carriers while developing professional and advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior attorneys in all phases of workers’ compensation and employment defense litigation—from claim investigation and pleadings to discovery, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Draft briefs, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant issues.
  • Manage discovery processes, including depositions and document production.
  • Participate in client meetings, strategy discussions, and communication with carriers and third-party administrators.
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely management of assigned cases.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies for early case resolution.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and client service.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar membership (or eligibility and commitment to obtain).
  • 0–5 years of litigation experience (workers’ compensation, employment defense, or related areas preferred).
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters.
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and a results-oriented mindset.

Pay: $169,000.00 - $275,000.00 per year
