The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications leads strategic marketing and communications for the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), OSU's largest college. As a member of the Dean's leadership team, this position provides strategic counsel to college leadership while overseeing the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing, communications (internal and external), recruitment communications, and public relations strategies across CAS and its departments.
This position manages and directs strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of CAS, its academic departments and, by extension, Oklahoma State University, including digital, print, and interactive media. The Associate Director creates content that showcases the college's academic excellence and research impact, translating complex scientific information into relatable content for diverse audiences.
Working closely with OSU Brand Management, this role ensures alignment with institutional brand standards and strategic priorities. The Associate Director serves as a critical bridge between CAS priorities and OSU's broader marketing and communications ecosystem.
The Associate Director develops marketing and communication plans to reach key audiences including prospective students and families, alumni, current students, faculty and staff, as well as donors. They write and direct content for various platforms, including the CAS website, news stories, magazines, executive and internal communications, marketing campaigns, and others. They provide strategic oversight for event planning and management that supports college priorities and consultation services for CAS partners, including the dean and leadership team. They work closely with university partners such as Enrollment Management, the OSU Alumni Association and the OSU Foundation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate self-direction, creativity, and strategic thinking in identifying opportunities to showcase the College of Arts and Sciences and its departments and programs. The candidate will utilize skills in people management, project management, campaign planning, digital marketing, content prioritization, and writing.
This role requires an understanding of current strategic communications, marketing and outreach strategies and an adaptable writing style for various audiences. The individual should be highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects and content calendars. Additionally, this individual must be adept at working with individuals at various roles and leadership levels, collecting feedback and improving communications based on information received.
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is OSU's largest college, offering more than 150 majors and options, 70 minors, and 48 graduate programs across 23 departments.
