Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our client's urban planning team in Riyadh. This senior role focuses on improving cities in the Middle East through strategic planning, masterplanning, and sustainable development. You will lead projects, grow the team, and help secure new work in a dynamic consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the urban planning team, including mentoring and managing junior staff.

Oversee multidisciplinary projects, coordinating inputs from various specialists (e.g., transport, infrastructure, environment, sustainability) and external collaborators.

Act as technical lead on projects covering spatial/regional planning, masterplans, policies, governance, and implementation strategies.

Ensure high-quality deliverables, manage project resources, budgets, and financial performance.

Build and maintain client relationships in the region to win new projects, including preparing bids and proposals.

Promote innovative planning services and explore new business opportunities.
Required Skills & Experience

Strong technical expertise in urban/strategic planning, masterplanning, policy development, and sustainability.

Proven track record of winning work, managing client relationships, and understanding the Middle East market.

Experience leading complex, large-scale city projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team of professionals.

Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.

Commitment to quality improvement and staying current with industry trends and tools.

Willingness to travel within the region.

Degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or related field.

Professional membership/chartership in a relevant body (e.g., equivalent to RTPI or similar) preferred.

Extensive prior experience working in the Middle East (essential).

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Adobe Creative Suite experience desirable.
