Position Overview:
*This position is a temporary to hire role* - hourly role, 1099.
The Associate HR Manager supports day-to-day human resources operations while partnering closely with finance and leadership to ensure compliance, accurate reporting, and best-in-class employee practices. This role blends core HR responsibilities with accounting exposure, including payroll coordination, reconciliations, and workforce reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, people-focused, and comfortable operating at the intersection of HR, compliance, and finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Operations
- Support and administer core HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and policy implementation
- Ensure HR policies and procedures align with current employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and payroll
- Assist in performance management processes, employee engagement initiatives, and talent development programs
- Partner with leadership to support workforce planning and organizational needs
Payroll, Accounting & Reconciliations
- Collaborate with payroll and finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting
- Perform payroll and benefits reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Assist with monthly and quarterly HR-related accounting entries, accruals, and reporting
- Maintain accurate employee records impacting payroll, benefits, and financial reporting
- Support audits by providing HR and payroll documentation as needed
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- Maintain HRIS data integrity and support reporting for headcount, turnover, compensation, and benefits
- Assist in the preparation of HR metrics and financial summaries for leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3–6 years of progressive experience in HR, with exposure to payroll, accounting, or finance functions
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, and HRIS systems
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a multi-state or fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of GAAP concepts as they relate to payroll and benefits
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) or accounting coursework a plus
- Experience supporting audits or working closely with finance teams
