Human Resources Generalist

Position Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: HR Manager

We are in search of a qualified and resourceful HR Generalist to perform payroll functions and support our HR department. Primary responsibilities include processing payroll, taxation forms and benefits, as well as maintaining employee data and answering employee questions. The ideal applicant must be well-organized, responsive and capable of balancing multiple requests and projects simultaneously.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Full cycle, weekly and bi-weekly processing of payroll.
  • Data and document processing, including new hires, terminations, change of status, paid time off requests and expense reimbursements.
  • Prepare reports as needed by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes, unemployment, and other payments.
  • Liaison with health, 401k and other benefit providers to maintain accurate reporting and records.
  • Update payroll records as needed for changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department transfers.
  • Working with department managers to resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies.
  • Answer employee questions to ensure accuracy of information and employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with benefit and financial audits.
  • Train new employees on time reporting and approval.
  • Support the human resources department.

Required Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma and 3+ years proven experience in Human Resources.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements/union pay - preferred.
  • At least 2 years of payroll experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Systems.
  • Proficiency with Paycom or similar payroll system.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate, summarize, and present information clearly to audiences with different backgrounds and at different levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and local compliance laws and leaves (FMLA, CFRA, DFEH, etc).
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach.

Work Environment:
Professional environment at corporate headquarters. Pay range is $25.00 - $50.00 per hour. Pay rate may vary depending upon multiple factors, including experience.
