Aviation Structural Mechanic

As an Aviation Structural Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and fabricating aircraft airframes and structural components, contributing to the overall excellence of our aviation operations. Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections of aircraft airframes, sheet metal, and structural components using schematics, CAD drawings, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and micrometers.
  • Conduct repairs and fabrication of aircraft structures utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and sheet metal techniques to restore airframe integrity.
  • Use advanced CAD software like CATIA and AutoCAD to interpret schematics, drawings, and technical data for assembly or repair tasks.
  • Execute root cause analysis on structural issues to identify underlying problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other precision measurement instruments to ensure structural components meet strict tolerances.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards including AS9100 quality management system requirements and Federal Aviation Regulations governing aviation maintenance.
  • Collaborate with avionics, electrical, mechanical, and vehicle maintenance teams to troubleshoot complex issues involving aircraft structure or equipment repair.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for traceability and compliance purposes.
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to guide assembly, disassembly, or modification of aircraft structures in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Assist in heavy lifting operations using appropriate equipment while following safety guidelines to prevent injury or damage during fabrication or installation.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an aviation mechanic or structural technician with a strong background in aircraft maintenance or vehicle maintenance.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA or AutoCAD for interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, welding, soldering, and equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of industry standards like AS9100 quality management systems and Federal Aviation Regulations related to aviation maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge is highly desirable for troubleshooting avionics or electrical systems integrated into structural components.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining focus on detail-oriented tasks requiring accuracy with tools like power drills, hand tools, power saws, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis to diagnose complex structural issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams within a fast-paced aviation environment. Job Type: Contract

Pay: $24.76 - $40.00 per hour
