Back-end Development Engineer, Valeo Service

Mission

The SW Engineer is part of the Valeo Service Smart Shared Service Center and will be responsible for server-side web applications, support of websites, and APIs. The candidate will collaborate with other developers working in an Agile environment to implement Valeo Service Digital Strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of server side languages (Node.js, JavaScript, Php) and will ensure developments are secured and adheres to industry standards.

Education/Training

• Bachelor or Masters degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field

Professional Experience

The candidates should have from 1-3 years of experience, with most of these qualities:

• 1-3 years experience with a back-end programming language (Java, Php, Javascript, etc.)

• 1+ years of experience with Nodejs and modern back-end frameworks (i.e: Express)

• Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds

• Proficient knowledge and experience with API development and integrating with third-party APIs

• Experience integrating with third-party APIs

• Experience in creating and implementing database schemas that represent and support business processes

• Demonstrated experience in OO designs and TDD practice

• Experience with software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, security concerns, source control management, build processes and testing

• Comfortable with writing, editing, and maintaining Unit/Feature tests

• Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, etc.), HTML5, SASS & CSS

• Experience with Git version control, package-management (npm/yarn) and command-line proficiency

• Experience with Linux & NGINX (In deployment, hosting, etc.)

• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum & Kanban)

• Familiar with DevOps concepts

• Knowledge of Cyber Security policies and procedures including static code analysis, dependency analysis and penetration testing

• Sense of business with a strong sensibility to time to market

• Eager to research and learn in a self-directed way (always improving)

• It would be great if you had a few of these qualities, too:

• Knowledgeable on modern concepts of software development and architectures (SoC, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, SOA, Mobile-first, Digital)

• Demonstrated experience using Docker and CI/CD tools

• Knowledge and experience developing Drupal applications is a plus

• AWS Certified Developer is a plus
