Your Day to Day

As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while ensuring a warm, engaging, and personalized guest experience. You will maintain a clean and organized workstation, follow brand standards, and contribute to the overall success of the outlet by promoting beverages and enhancing guest satisfaction in line with InterContinental’s promise of True Hospitality for Good.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to brand and recipe standards.
• Provide guests with product knowledge, recommend beverages, and upsell items to enhance their experience.
• Ensure all equipment (coffee machines, grinders, blenders, etc.) is operated safely and maintained in good working order.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the barista station, display counters, and seating area.
• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, tea, syrups, milk, and other supplies, and report shortages to supervisors.
• Handle guest requests, feedback, and complaints with professionalism, ensuring service recovery where needed.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in compliance with hotel and local regulations.
• Assist in training new team members on coffee preparation techniques and service standards.
• Support overall F&B operations as required, including assisting colleagues during peak business hours.

What We Need From You

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:

• High School diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in hospitality is an advantage.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Barista in a hotel, café, or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, latte art, and specialty beverages.
• Passion for coffee culture and customer service excellence.
• Strong communication skills in English; additional languages (Arabic, French, etc.) are an advantage.
• Professional appearance and grooming standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Basic cash handling or POS experience preferred.
