POSITION PURPOSE

To assist guests in a friendly and professional manner with arrival and departure services, luggage service, and provide information to them about the property’s amenities, activities, dining, and history, as well as information about the surrounding area. To maintain confidentiality of guest information, i.e., credit card information, room number, and security of guest belongings. To provide service to guests and fellow team members in a manner which meets or exceeds Handlery Hotels’ standards and to comply with established company and departmental policies and procedures. To provide back-up coverage of the PBX Operator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greet and welcome guests warmly as they arrive at the property. Open doors for them and assist guests. Provide excellent guest service in a friendly manner.
  • Provide luggage service, including handling luggage in and out of vehicles, transporting them on hotel property and storing luggage. Assist guests with their ground transportation needs.
  • Conduct a thorough room orientation and address guest requests promptly and courteously.
  • Assist with room changes. Make room deliveries and keep accurate logs and records of them.
  • Attend and participate in daily pre-service meeting, departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Clean, polish, and maintain bell carts. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
  • Backup as PBX Operator to answer external and internal calls. Transfer calls and forward messages to the appropriate personnel if unable to assist callers directly. Verify and accept mail/package deliveries and log/track/monitor received items to ensure delivery to the correct recipient. Coordinate with the Receiving Clerk for delivery of received items.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Service and Teamwork oriented.
  • Requires good verbal communication and telephone skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to memorize numbers and ability to count.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 7.5 hours, able to lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill job tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, visual acuity requiring manual and finger dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Has good knowledge of the city and surrounding area (history, attractions, etc.) of interest to guests.
  • Available to work various shifts including evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Associate’s Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two-years experience in a similar position is required.
  • Able to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits applicable to the position.
