Benefits Analyst

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for analyzing, designing, and administering employee benefits programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. This role partners with HR leadership, vendors, and brokers to evaluate benefits performance, recommend program improvements, and support strategic benefits initiatives. The Benefits Analyst monitors regulatory changes, prepares analytical reports, and helps guide benefits policies to meet organizational goals.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Analyze benefits program utilization, costs, and effectiveness through data collection, benchmarking, and reporting.
  • Research and interpret relevant benefits laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Collaborate with brokers, vendors, and HR teams to evaluate, design, and renew benefit plans.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management on benefits trends, costs, and recommended program adjustments.
  • Assist in the development and communication of benefits strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Support open enrollment analysis, employee communications, and benefits education efforts.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex benefits issues and provide guidance to benefits administration staff.
  • Participate in special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, or wellness program initiatives.

Professional Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits analysis or related HR function.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits laws, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Professional certification in benefits administration or human resources is a plus.
