Duties
- Greet and assist Spanish-speaking patients with warmth and professionalism at the front desk or via phone, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Conduct patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth).
- Review and verify documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with insurance verification, billing procedures, and coding tasks including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding to facilitate accurate claims processing.
- Schedule appointments using medical office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; manage multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and documentation review processes to support clinic operations.
- Provide excellent patient service by answering inquiries, explaining procedures in Spanish and English, and ensuring clear communication throughout the intake process.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical office administration or healthcare setting with clinic or dental office experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks; familiarity with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), insurance verification, and documentation review.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is essential; excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information following HIPAA guidelines with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; typing speed of 10 key or more is advantageous.
- Prior clinic or hospital experience involving front desk duties, medical scheduling, phone etiquette, filing, and health information management is highly desirable.
