Job Overview

We are setting up a biomass pellet production facility in Matli and are seeking a hands-on Biomass Pellet Engineer / Formulation Specialist with practical experience in pelletizing agricultural waste materials.

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, test, and optimize pellet compositions using raw materials such as banana leaves, rice husk, and sawdust, cotton sticks, coconut shells, wheat straw while ensuring consistent product quality and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize biomass pellet formulations using mixed agricultural residues
• Conduct trial runs to determine ideal ratios for binding, density, and durability
• Manage moisture control (drying, conditioning, and mixing processes)
• Set and optimize pellet mill parameters (die selection, pressure, temperature)
• Troubleshoot issues such as:
• Poor pellet binding
• Machine choking / die blockage
• Low output or inconsistent quality
• Ensure pellets meet required standards for:
• Density
• Durability
• Ash content
• Train and supervise machine operators and plant staff
• Maintain production logs and continuously improve efficiency
• Coordinate with procurement team for raw material quality control

Required Skills & Expertise

• Strong understanding of:
• Biomass behavior and binding (lignin role)
• Pelletizing process and machine operation
• Moisture optimization (target 8–12%)
• Experience with challenging raw materials such as:
• Agricultural residues (leaves, husk, straw, etc.)
• Ability to develop formulations for low-lignin materials (e.g., banana leaves)
• Hands-on troubleshooting of pellet mills (ring die/flat die systems)

Qualifications

• DAE (Mechanical/Electrical) OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Process Engineering

Candidates with strong hands-on pellet or feed mill experience will be preferred over formal qualifications

Experience Required

• Minimum 3–5 years in:
• Biomass pellet plants

Experience with agri-waste pelletizing is highly preferred

• Market competitive salary (PKR 150,000 – 200,000/month)
