Key Responsibilities:
- Develop BIW (Body-in-White) sidewall and roof components using NX with Daimler methodologies.
- Validate styling data against technical and functional requirements.
- Understand and design upper body structures including sidewall, pillars, and roof systems.
- Create and validate master sections, perform benchmarking, and develop concept proposals.
- Conduct packaging studies, interference checks, and create joining elements for assemblies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Simulation, Manufacturing, Vehicle Integration, Corrosion Protection) for feedback integration.
- Manage engineering changes and maintain documentation accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
- Present design status and concepts at project forums.
- Generate innovative ideas to support cost reduction, weight optimization, and process improvements.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong product functional knowledge in BIW (Sidewall, Roof, Upper Body).
- Expertise in NX for styling validation, CAD construction, PMI, GD&T, and product design.
- Experience in change management processes (NCM/ACM).
- Ability to interact with suppliers for costing and project coordination.
- Hands-on experience collaborating with CFT teams (MDS, project workflow).
- Knowledge of manufacturing feasibility and tooling considerations.
- Familiarity with documentation systems (Freigabe management, EC, DIALOG).
- Experience in proto builds, hardware phase, assembly, and fixturing.
- Understanding of VA/VE (value analysis and value engineering) for optimization.
- Typical experience range: 3–8 years in BIW or automotive product development (adjustable as needed).
